Late Night Board Retreat 5/18/2013
As a continuation of the HPOA Board’s increasing focus on night-time safety issues in the District, the directors have decided to see for themselves the state of Hollywood in the late hours of the evening and early morning. The weekend of May 18, the board members will be taking to the streets in teams to witness various parts of the District from a new perspective. Starting at midnight, the teams will embark on several missions to examine the nightlife and experience what it’s like to be a visitor to the BID long after most businesses have closed and the nightclubs are in full swing. The next morning, they will gather for a debriefing and visioning session to determine priorities for the coming months.

Create Nightclub to Showcase Dance Music 5/11/2013 6021 Hollywood Blvd.
Nightlife group SBE is partnering with Insomniac, the producers of the Electric Daisy Carnival, to bring a new nightclub experience called Create, in the spot formerly occupied by Vanguard. Having recently renovated the space, the new venture will feature "some of the world's highest-profile dance music talent" and serve "as a laboratory for emerging artists to explore their sound." Beginning with a grand opening on April 7, the EaCa Alley will become "Spice Alley" each Sunday, in conjunction with the Hollywood Farmer's Market, which runs from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. “We envision ‘Spice Alley’ almost like a mini Moroccan spice bazaar attached to the Hollywood Farmer’s Market,” said David Gajda, property owner of the Café Etc. and St Felix buildings. “After a morning spent shopping at the Farmer’s Market, visitors can pick up some exotic spices to flavor their meals—then sit in one of EaCa Alley’s restaurant patios, enjoy some live music, have a spicy cocktail and try new dishes that’ll zing their palates.”

Vine Street Garage Open 2/25/2013 1627 Vine Street
Conveniently located just south of Hollywood Blvd. on Vine Street, the brand new Vine Street Garage is a city-owned parking structure with 457 parking spaces. The facility is fully automated and will be open 24/7. Pricing is $2 each 20 minutes with a $12 daily maximum; $10 flat rate between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. Monthly parking is also available starting at $100 per month.

Tinhorn Flats Now Open in Hollywood 2/1/2013 1724 N. Highland Ave
New to Hollywood is Tinhorn Flats, a 190-seat restaurant with a western theme featuring a variety of hamburgers and a full bar. Located just across the street from the Hollywood & Highland Center, it is within easy walking distance of the METRO Red Line and is open for lunch and dinner from 11 a.m. to midnight Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. until 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Sunday. Hide it, Lock it, Keep it! 7/18/2012
LAPD Hollywood would like to remind everyone to use caution when visiting Hollywood to avoid theft from vehicles. If you have valuables in your car, please remove them if possible when leaving your car. If you have to leave them in your car, make sure they are hidden from site, and that your windows are up and doors are locked. This will go a long way to preventing theft from your vehicles!

Metro Extends Late Night Service 7/13/2012
All Metro Rail train lines and the Orange Line will now run until 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights starting the weekend of July 27-28, 2012. The Metro Orange Line will run until 2:40 a.m. in order to meet the last trains at the North Hollywood Metro Rail Station. Trains will run every 20 minutes between midnight and 2 a.m.

Hollywood HQ Mobile Site Launched 4/23/2012
The Hollywood Entertainment District has launched a brand new, mobile-friendly website, HollywoodHQ (www.HollywoodHQ.us), to make it easier for visitors to find out what's going on, where to eat, drink, and shop, and how to get around in Hollywood. Optimized to work on all mobile devices including smart phones and tablets, the site functions similarly to an "app" but requires no download. Simply go to the site, chose an itinerary to follow, or search for whatever you're looking for!

EaCa Alley Now Open 2/29/2012
The EaCa Alley, Los Angeles' first pedestrian alley, is now open! Located parallel to the Cahuenga Corridor, on the east side, between Selma Ave. and Hollywood Blvd., the first of its kind project was coordinated through the City of Los Angeles Bureau of Street Services, the CRA, the HPOA, and the individual property and business owners in the vicinity. Already, several of the restaurants and bars along the alley are taking advantage of the new open space with outdoor dining.

Metro Announces More Trains More Often 11/7/2011
Today Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa announced that Metro will be increasing the frequency of trains on the Red, Purple, and Blue lines. Beginning on Sunday, November 13, trains will run every ten minutes after 6:00 p.m. until midnight. HPOA Board President Thaddeus Smith also spoke at the press conference to voice Hollywood's appreciation for Metro and the new program. If the program is successful, Metro will consider lengthening the hours of operation in 2012. In addition to the added service, Metro has partnered with attractions, stores and restaurants to offer discount to riders. For more information, click here.

New at the Hollywood & Highland center is Komida from Chef Brock Kleweno (of Yamashiro). The new eatery on the second floor of the center offers casual food with a sophisticated twist, including items like duck confit and miso sake black cod, six taco choices and three salsas. The spot also offer cocktails and beer. Currently, it is only open two days a week: Thursdays from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. so plan accordingly. Kleweno plans to expand the hours in November.

Job Fairs in Hollywood 9/15/2011
Two upcoming Job and Resource Fairs will provide Hollywood residents with employment opportunities. On September 15, from 10 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., the Pantages Theatre will host the "Hollywood Golden Age Spectacular Job Fair," co-sponsored by State Senator Kevin DeLeon and the City of Los Angeles. On September 22, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., the Hollywood Hills West Neighborhood Council will host its first annual event at the Yucca Community Center, 6671 Yucca Street. Attendees of both events are encourage to dress professionally and bring resumes.

Morrison Appointed to LAHSA 8/22/2011
We are proud to announce that Kerry Morrison, Executive Director of the Hollywood Property Owners Alliance, has been appointed to the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority by Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. Morrison is a co-founder of Hollywood 4WRD, a community coalition to end homelessness. In addition, she is a board member of the Hollywood Police Activities League and a member of Home for Good, the Business Leaders Task Force on Homelessness. Safer Summer Sidewalks 7/12/2011
As reported by the Hollywood Patch, the Los Angeles City Council approved a motion to increase patrols of Hollywood Boulevard during the summer, in an attempt to curb illegal street activity. City inspectors will monitor street vendors selling hot dogs, beverages, and other items which are not permitted on city sidewalks. To read more about the Summer Sidewalks program, click here.

Hot Dog! W Plaza Activated 6/29/2011 6250 Hollywood Blvd.
In order to fully activate the W Metro Plaza, located just east of Hollywood and Vine, the BID has worked together with the W Hotel, Metro, LAPD and the Sheriff to launch an expirement to bring some civic life to the Plaza. The BID has provided French bistro-style tables and chairs, and Hole in the Wall Catering is operating a food cart open daily from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Stop by, grab a hot dog, and relax!

KCET Examines Hollywood Blvd. Characters 5/9/2011
KCET, the nation's largest independent public television station, recently aired a segment on it's "SoCal Closeup" Program which looked at the issues relating to the costumed characters found on Hollywood Blvd. The spot, titled "Battle of the Boulevard," examined both sides of the issue, and includes interviews with HPOA Executive Director Kerry Morrison and Philip Ferentinos with Starline Tours. A new, temporary "pop up" bar has come to Hollywood. Located on Cosmo Street, between Hollywood Blvd. and Selma Ave., one has to do a little footwork to find the bouncer who will let you up the stairs and into this speakeasy-style lounge (located in the former Cinespace). Opening on February 25, Tru is a new three-level club and restaurant celebrating Hollywood's glory days. A Night at the Roxbury, Part 2 1/14/2011 1161 Ivar Street
In the '90's, West Hollywood's Sunset Strip was home to the Roxbury nightclub - LA's version of Studio 54, which drew reveling celebs and spawned a lowbrow Will Ferrell flick.
